Miners and Steamfitters Union

The Miners and Steamfitters Union evolved from the Rail Road Union that constructed the railway lines that lead into Malifaux. It was soon apparent that this Union was ill-equipped to deal with the unique dangers that plagued miners in Malifaux. The M&SU established itself as a discreet and self-sufficient entity, becoming a powerful force in Malifaux politics.

With the election of Doctor Victor Ramos as president of the Union, there were many advances in mining safety, the most important being the Hollow Marsh Pumping Station. This station would later become the offices of the M&SU, and its facilities became valuable assets.

With Ramos’ involvement, a growing association with the criminal Arcanists organization became highly rumoured. It was difficult for the Guild to investigate this alleged association between Arcanists and the Union because of the Union’s overwhelming public support and the relatively low opinion most citizens have of the Guild.

It is widely accepted that Union halls double as Arcanist safe houses and that Union assets, like their machine shops, are utilized regularly by Arcanist criminals. Raids on these safe houses always results in public outcry and has been the catalyst for violent miner protests that have caused significant damage to Guild property.
