The warren of decaying cellars beneath Ringside is the site of Jacob Samuels’ less savoury business venture. Here, Samuels offers up grisly entertainment to Ringside’s most jaded and affluent patrons. The majority of these “pit fights” are mundane duels to the death between men and women with nothing left to lose. Other contests pit creatures captured and delivered to Jacob Samuels at great expense against one another or his collection of pit fighters. Ringside’s richest visitors are carefully vetted before being invited to attend a night of the Pits, Jacob Samuels making sure they can either be trusted or blackmailed to keeping his side business secret.

The majority of his fighters are lured to participate in these ghoulish events with the promise of riches and a chance to start their lives again, should they survive and win five fights. To date, none have claimed the prize. Only the pit fighter turned bounty hunter known as Bishop learned this murderous fact, escaping the Pits before his fifth match began. Because Jacob Samuels entertains the favour of some very influential members of the Guild, the Pits remain unmolested by The Guild Guardsmen who receive rumours concerning its existence.
