Relic Hammers

The powerful strike delivered by a so-called relic hammer is enabled by an alchemical catalyst. The head of the hammer is made of this catalyst material, and upon striking an object, the catalyst attacks the crystalline structure of stone, making it very useful in mining.

The catalyst has an intensely gory effect on organic materials. A blow from a relic hammer can inflict grievous wounds, turning healthy limbs into paste, flesh and bone alike.

The technique used in Old 0. To be Organised/Malifaux to produce this catalyst material has not been discovered by the modern world. The heads for these hammers must be salvaged from the ruins of the City, hence they are known as relic hammers. They are prized tools for miners and mercenaries both and are regularly traded through the Arcanist black market.
